Assistant Materials Officer

All Aspects Recruitment & HR Services are currently seeking Assistant Materials Officers for a temporary role for approx. 5 months with possibility of extension.

• Toowoomba and Warwick roles.
• $57.92 per hour including casual loading

Duties include –

• Undertaking basic materials classification and compliance tests and assist materials testing practitioners with other tests including specialist tests.
• Assist with sampling, equipment checking and calibration, investigations and instrumentation.
• Perform all sampling and testing in strict accordance with the Materials Services Management Operations System.
• Use all equipment, apparatus and reagents in keeping with documented procedures as well as ensure all personal protection equipment (PPE) and other safety devices are used when and as required and/or directed.
• Assist with field work, travel with senior staff on pavement investigations and site sampling exercises to various locations within the region.
• Develop an understanding of NATA accreditation.

Requirements –

• May at times be working in isolated locations where there will be limited/no mobile phone coverage for periods of up to 11 days. The Department ensures that appropriate levels of contact are maintained between their employees and the home base.
• A significant percentage of your work requires regular and repeated physical tasks involving heavy testing equipment, shovelling, walking through adverse terrain and lifting heavy samples up to (20kg).
• The role requires these tasks be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments at any time of the calendar year.
• This role requires significant amounts of calculations utilising both manual and software-based tools. The successful applicant will require sound numeracy skills.
• Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the Southern Queensland Region, including overnight dependant on location of project.
